  • The Big Disaster
  • Athens and Sparta are to very different. Athens was powerful democracy that discussing politics and culture. Sparta on the other hand was ruthless and born to fight. They had a very strong military/army.
  • Peace not for Long
  • Until next time!!
  • The Athens and Sparta were too contrary too dominant stand each others shadows. So they were enemies. Over time they became jealous with each other and held grudges.
  • Back At It
  • The Athens and the Spartans became even more furious. That is how the the Peloponnesian War started. They took down many cities. The war itself had shifted from the earlier battles to full-out warfare never before seen.
  • The End of It
  • The two immensely powerful city states had been at each other’s throats for years in the first Peloponnese war. They only managed a respite from the violence with the ‘Third Year Peace'. But it didn't last long.
  • Trouble started brewing as early as 440 BC when some of the Athenian allies started to revolt. Sparta wanted to take advantage of its weakened enemy, which would have triggered a major assault.
  • They are coming back
  • Eventually, in 423 BC, Sparta summoned the members of the Peloponnesian League to air their grievances with Athens.
