Theme:Fear and suspicion are destructive forces.
Evidence 1: Tommy was telling Steve to not leave the town so that the aliens do not get upset.
Evidence 2: Charlie shoots Pete Van Horn because he believes that he is the monster and shoot him without getting a closer look at him.
Evidence 3 : The town went into chaos when people started to assume that one of them is a monster.
This scene shows that fear and suspicion are destructive forces because Tommy did not want Steve to leave the the street because the reason the power went out is to keep them in the town and to not leave.
This shows the theme fear and suspension are destructive forces because Charlie was afraid that the shadowy figure was the alien and then shoots the figure without thinking of what the figure was.
The scene when the towns folk are destroying each other is an example that fear and suspension are destructive forces because after so much accusing, the town finally snaps and all the residence start to destroy each other.
