Home Isn't Home
My home doesn't feel like home anymore. This all started when my older sister moved to college, leaving me. Alone. With no one to talk to. With both my parents having hard working jobs, I have no one. No one.
From the moment I open the door to my house after school, I hear that same annoying alarm system go off. Once I set it, silence elops the whole house.
I retreat to my room, passing the blank white front door that locks me in my personal prison. ‘Don’t go outside for anything…’ she says. But I want to go outside. I want to run. I want to be free. I quickly dash upstairs, not wanting to think about my imprisonment any longer.
I enter my room. The baby pink walls with colorful posters don’t seem to make me happy anymore. I drop my bag on the ground, not caring about the content inside. A thump fills the room, then silence again. I need to hear something. I stare at my blank white ceiling that aids me to sleep.
I wake up. It’s dark outside. I look at my clock. 5:53. My parents are still not home. I start on my homework. That seems to be the only thing that I do now. The alarm goes off. Mom’s home. Finally, someone. Anyone. I place a happy mask on my face and head downstairs.
