  • INDIRECT CHARACTERIZATION
  • Here scrooge is walking home and everyone is ignoring him and acting like he doesn't exist because he has bad body language. Everybody knows to stay away from him, especially during the Christmas season.
  • "Nobody ever stopped him in the street... with gladsome looks"
  • THEME
  • Here Scrooge is realizing that if the ghost is coming to his home and going to take him places he'd rather learn from it than not. This is a change in his behavior from the first ghost when he was afraid and upset that the ghost came into his home.
  • "Tonight if you have aught to teach me, let me profit by it
  • "Touch my robe"
  • Here scrooge is standing in the corner with the ghost participating in games with Fred and his guests. Even though nobody could here or see him he was still participating in games and having fun. This shows how much progress hes made from these ghosts.
  • "It's your uncle Scrooooge"
  • SYMBOLISM
  • "What is it?"
  • INTERNAL CONFLICT
  • Scrooge fears the Ghost of Christmas yet to come because he is so silent. It is an internal conflict because this is a problem Scrooge is having with himself
  • "Remove me! i cannot bear it!"
  • "I told you these were shadows of things that have been."
  • Scrooge has changed and promised the spirit to celebrate christmas all year round and to live in the past present and future. He has changed and become a new person because of the spirits.
  • Theme
  • "I will live in the past, present, and future."
  • Dickens in indirectly characterizing scrooge as coldhearted and an icy personality. He is saying how anywhere Scrooge goes it becomes cold and the atmosphere changes to good to bad everywhere he went
  • INDIRECT CHARACTERIZATION
  • "He carried his own low temperature always with him"
