Tom Robinson is held inside the Maycomb jail until the morning when his court case begins. Atticus is sitting outside so nobody comes near him.
A group of men, including Mr. Cunningham, go inside Maycomb jail to try and lynch Tom.
While Atticus comes to defend Tom from the mob of men, Jem, Scout, and Dill watch this uproar occur.
They all run up to Atticus to help protect Tom from the perpetrators.
As Scout walks up to the group of men, she noticed Mr. Cunningham as one of them. She starts talking to him and knocks some sense into him.
The mob of men walk away and Atticus can continue fighting for Tom's justice, thanks to Scout.
