Evidence #1: The group on the street starts walking to Les Goodman's house and turns into a mob.
Blaming Others and Trying to Find a Scapegoat can Lead to Violence
Evidence #2: The group sees a dark figure at the end of the street. The dark figure keeps walking towards the group. Charlie gets scare and takes the rifle away from Steve Brand and shoots the dark figure. They go over to who it was and Steve said,"It's Pete Van Horn."
Evidence #3: The crowd starts getting angry and scared because lights in different houses keep turning on. Steve gets hit in the head, people shout, and shoot houses.
Explanation of Evidence: This is the scene when The crowd turns in to a mob because Les Goodman's car suddenly turns on and this supports the theme Blaming Others and trying to find a scapegoat can lead to violence. The group turned into a mob because they are suspicous of Les Goodman because his car turns on and there is no power in the neighborhood. Also, someone pointed out that late at night Les Goodman goes to his porch and stares up in the sky as if he were waiting for someone. Les Gooodman was mad and said that they were all "sick people." This scene shows that people are trying to find a scapegoat.
Explanation of Evidence: This is the scene where charlie grabs the gun and shoots the dark figure because he thought it was the alien an this supports the theme Blaming Others and trying to find a scapegoat can lead to violence. Charlie got the gun and shot the dark figure because he thought Steve was crazy since Steve didn't shoot so he did. So people were now suspicious of Charlie because he shot Pete Van Horn and keeps blaming innocent people.This scene shows that Charlie keeps trying to find a scapegoat and he should be one of the suspects.

The group started getting mad mad at each other because lights in different houses keep turning on and off so people start fighting, shouting, and throwing things. Now the real aliens in the sky know the procedure that just flip some lights of and the people start turning their backs on each other.
