  • Your husband died in a train accident.
  • Rising Action

  • *Door opening*
  • Mrs. Mallard finds out the news of her husband's death in the railroad accident. Her sister Josephine is the one who tells her.
  • Falling Action
  • He's alive, and now, I can't be free
  • Mrs. Mallard looks out the window and thinks of how free she is now that her husband is gone.
  • Resolution
  • She died of heart disease..."a joy that kills."
  • Suddenly, her husband arrives. He had been far from the accident. Mrs. Mallard is surprised that her husband is actually alive.
  • The End
  • Mrs. Mallard realizes that now that her husband is alive, she can't be free anymore as she had thought before by the window.
  • Along with her heart problems, the sadness that her dreams of her freedom could no longer be a reality caused her death. The doctors came but it was too late. Because of her heart problems, they said she had died of "a joy that kills."
