"i am the ghost of Jacob Marley beware the chain that has draped its self around me for the rest of my days".
" I have decided to keep working in the counting house and if you don't like that then maybe we shouldn't be together."
"Very well then..goodbye Ebeneezer."
"let us all thank the founder of this feast....to ole Ebeneezer what ever he may be."
Jacob Marley comes back after death to warn scrooge about his ways of life and how the chain he is slowly making for himself can cause an eternal burden. The chain that Jacob appears with is the result of a life of selfishness, greed, disloyalty, and lack of compassion and scrooges chain is rapidly growing.
Belle basically tells scrooge to pick between her and the money and scrooge picks the money. This tells the reader that scrooge does not care about anything other then money; he is greedy, selfish, and self centered.
Even though Mr. scrooge is greedy, selfish, not very merry tiny Tims family and friends raise a toast in his honor as the founder of the "feast". The theme of a Christmas carol is compassion and forgiveness; they forgive scrooge for being such a miser and drink to him.
