Storyboard Text

  • Today
  • The Greensboro Sit-Ins reminds me of the present day Black Lives Matter protests because most of protests are nonviolent. They are following Martin Luther King Jr's legacy which was started during the Civil Rights movement.
  • We want to go to school with everyone
  • We want the same education!
  • Leave or you will be arrested!
  • May 1963
  • The Children's March or Children's Crusade was a march were children would go to get arrested in an effort to make a change in Birmingham, Alabama. The children were trained to be nonviolent when going to the parks where the police were to arrest them. This event was successful because it gained the attention of the President of the United States John F. Kennedy and the nation. America could no longer ignore the issue now that children were involved. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 which outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin came out of these movements.
  • Today
  • Love trumps hate!
  • The Women's March that took place after Donald Trump was elected President of the United States is very similar to the Children's crusade in that children and women were involved. They carried signs, had speakers and shared with the leaders of our government their concerns. Women today are still fighting to be treated equally as the blacks of the Civil Rights movement did.
