  • Mr. Collins is a self-important, foolish person. He defines social-status as the most important thing for someone...even though he has a poor one. Mr. Bennet is embarrassed Collins will not only inherit his property, but also marry one of his five daughters.
  • You fool!
  • I am here to inherit your property and marry one of your daughters.
  • Elizabeth meets Mr. Wickham in the town of Meryton. She notices Mr. Darcy passing by to say hello. She also notices he and Mr. Wickham give each other a cold look. Wickham tells Elizabeth that Darcy wronged him in the past.
  • Yes, yes this is awkward.
  • Elizabeth: Uhhhhhh... This is awkward.
  • Mr. Collins furthermore shows he is clumsy and foolish at Lady Catherine de Bourgh's estate. First off, he begins to read a book over how to become a women. Kitty, a Bennet daughter, cannot hold in her laughter. Mr. Collins is embarrassed and mad at the fact that everybody thought he was silly.
  • Elizabeth looks forward to seeing Wickham at the ball in Netherfield. She becomes upset when she finds out he isn't there because of Darcy. She becomes even more furious when she has to dance with Darcy after bumping into him.
  • The last person I wanted to dance with was you!
  • Please don't trust Wickham!
  • Elizabeth rejects Mr. Collins. Her Mother tells her she will never see her again if she does not marry. Her Father says he'll do the same if she does marry him.
  • I'm positive you will change your mind.
  • I cannot accept your offer Mr. Collins!
  • I married him because I had no other choice!
  • It is discovered within these chapters that Elizabeth's dear friend Charlotte Lucas has married the foolish Mr. Collins. She married for security, rather than for love.
  • But you don't even love him!
