  • At around 400 B.C. Democritus claimed that Matter is composed of tiny and hard particles called "atomos".
  • Hello, I am Democritus. I propose that all matter is composed of small particles called "atomos".
  • In the year 1808, John Dalton created the first atomic theory. His theory was that atoms were tiny indivisible solid balls .
  • Atoms are tiny solid balls that are indivisible.
  • John Dalton also found the atomic mass along with other scientists.
  • In the year 1897, JJ Thomson found out that there are negatively charged particles inside the Atom. He called these corpuscles but scientists then changed the name into what we call today as "electrons".
  • JJ Thomson was the first scientist to discover evidences of Isotopes.
  • My atomic model is the "Plum Pudding" model. The negatively charged particles are the raisins while the dough is the positively charged part of the atom.
  • In the year 1910, Ernest Rutherford discovered the Nucleus and he also discovered the Protons inside the Nucleus through the Gold Foil experiment.
  • I discovered that most of the particles went through the Gold in the experiment. The atom had a dense center which I call the Nucleus.
  • Trivia: The number of Protons is the atomic number of an Element.
  • In 1932 James Chadwick discovered the Neutrons found inside the Nucleus.
  • The Neutrons are found inside the Nucleus and are uncharged thus giving them their name.
  • That concludes our lesson on the History of the Atomic Structure where inside the Atom are the Electrons and the Nucleus and inside the Nucleus are the Protons and Neutrons.
