All the prisoners were held in barracks where they slept and ate at. They weren't treated as humans, they were treated as pigs. "I became A-7713. From then on, I had no other name." (Wiesel 42). "Let them know that here lived men and not pigs." (Wiesel 84).
Elie doesn't have faith anymore on God and his father is becoming weaker and weaker. "What was there to thank Him for?" (Wiesel 33). "But my father had awakened and grabbed my aggressor. Too weak to overwhelm him..." (Wiesel 102).
