  • M: You know your ranks, and that's where you'll sit. And to now, I bid you a heart welcome.
  • LM: Say welcome to all of my friends for me, for in my heart they are welcome.
  • Lords: Thanks to you, your majesty.
  • M: There's blood on your face.
  • M: Well, I'd rather see his blood splattered on your face than flowing through his veins. Did you finish him?
  • 1st murderer: That would be Banquo's.
  • now I'm scared again. Otherwise, I would've felt perfect, but now I have doubts and worries.
  • M: You are the best at cutthroats, and whoever did the same to Fleance must be good as well. If you've done them both, then job very well done.
  • 1st murderer: Fleance has escaped.
  • 1st murderer: Yes, I've cut his throat.

  • Macbeth tells them that their seats depend on their ranks, therefore they already know where they have their place at the table. Once everyone is situated, Macbeth welcomes all of them, and Lady Macbeth asks him to welcome them for her.
  • M: It's nice of you to remind me. Here’s to good appetites, good digestion, and good health!
  • 🍷
  • LM: My lord, you're not entertaining the guests. They're going to start feeling like they're paying for their meal.

  • The first murderer shows up at Macbeth's castle, and Macbeth first notices the blood on his face. The murderer tells him that it's Banquo's blood, and Macbeth says that he'd rather see Banquo's blood splattered onto his face rather than flowing through Banquo's veins and wonders if he killed Banquo.
  • M: If only Banquo were here. I hope he's only late and that nothing bad has happened.
  • M: The table is full.
  • 🍷
  • R: His absence means he has broken his promise, sir. Why don't you sit with us, royal sir?

  • The murderer confirms the death of his mission, and Macbeth says that he is the best at cutthroats. However, he points out that whoever did the same to Fleance is good aswell, but Fleance was never taken care of. The murderer tells Macbeth that Fleance has escaped, and Macbeth because worried again.
  • M: (speaking to the LORDS) Which one one of you did this? . . . (speaking to the ghost of Banquo) You can't say I did it. Don't shake your bloody head at me.
  • Lady Macbeth scolds Macbeth for not entertaining his guests, and lets him know that they instead probably feel like they're paying for their meal. He takes note of this, and gives the toast of the dinner. Lennox suggests that he should have a seat at the table.
  • L: Why don’t you have a seat, your highness?
  • Macbeth puts it out there that Banquo isn't there, and "hopes" nothing bad has happened. Ross says that he has broken his promise of being here, and also suggests that he should sit, but Macbeth says the table is full. Lennox points to a spot for him to sit ,but Banquo's ghost is there.
  • L: Here's a seat my good sir. * points to where Banquo's ghosts' sits.*
  • Macbeth grows angry and tells the ghost that he can't say that Macbeth did it, because the murderers did it. Macbeth only ordered for them to do so.
