"A Shocking Accident"
Anna Wright 3rd period May 1, 2018
He was born in Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire. he became Roman Catholic after studying at Oxford University.
There was two main character's in this short story. There was a son and a dad. The son would lie about what his dad did for work. His dad would moves guns fro a living and i feel like the son did really see his dad very much, but wanted to have a dad in his life. this affect the story's plot by the dad not being there for his son and the son was lying and just making things worst.
This part is about when the son was called down to the office when he was at school. They asked him what his dad did for work and he told them he was a British secret service. The son wanted him to he proud of what his dad did because he was never home and the son wanted to just tell him self and others that to make things better. The setting is office at school, middle of day, and sad.
The main conflict of this short story was when the son was called to the office and got told his dad was killed and he thought he was shot in the heart instead of being killed by a pig. The son was upset and they told him to go home from school today. The pig broke his dad neck and killed him on the ground of the street he was on his way home from moving guns.
The son when he grown up he was getting married and she asked how his dad die and he finally told her how and she did laugh about it she really felt sorry for him. He always told her it was a street accident. He told her he did want to treat his kids like his dad treated him.
This theme is illustrated by the absurd death of Jerome’s father, who was walking down the streets of Naples when he was killed by a pig falling from a balcony. When Jerome is given the news, he initially assumes that his father was shot in the heart. When Sally is given the news, she immediately assumes that the “street accident” involves a car crash. My personal reaction is shocking because i was not expecting a pig to kill him.
