Intro: The duel between Burr and Hamilton was a very interesting, and ground breaking time in history. The duel was held in a field, and Hamilton could not back down or it would show that he was wrong, and his career could be ruined.
The Burr and Hamilton took place at Weehhawken, New Jersey on July 11, 1804. The duel was caused because they decided to handle the election like men and have a duel.
The agreement they had, is that only two fires would be shot, little did they know that Burr would actually hit Hamilton, make him fall and have Hamilton die the next day. The controversial topic still going on today is who shot first?
The aftermath of the duel. The exact day after the duel, Hamilton died with his wife trying to care for him next to him. Burr was charged for murder in New York and New Jersey, but neither charge actually got a trial. Burr headed west, because his career was ended.
The end of this duel, led to a few bad things happening. The duel was a big moment in history for the United States, now, here is my opinion.
My opinion of the Burr and Hamilton duel, is the duel should have been more controlled and maybe not even happened. Burr should not have shot more than he was supposed to, accident or not. The disputes could have been settled, without having a man die or a career being ruined,
