Storyboard Text

  • Ala al-Din was sitting at home with his mother when he heard a knock on the door. Standing at the door was a black dwarf who claimed he was Ala al-Din's uncle. With a little hesitation, Ala's mother let the 'uncle' take Ala on an 'adventure'.
  • After giving Ala al-Din a ring which will protect him from evil magic, the 'uncle' tells Ala to go into an underground cave to retrieve wealthy goods and a very important lamp. As Ala al-Din is making his way to the top of the staircase with his hands full of treasures, including the lamp, the 'uncle' suspects Ala has found the power of lamp and wanted to keep it, himself. With that, Ala closed the trapdoor to protect himself from the pocketknife his 'uncle' had thrown at him, and the 'uncle' poured incense on the door to lock it forever.
  • Please help me, uncle! Then you may retrieve this lamp.
  • You can't enjoy the lamp if I can't! Lie here and starve in your nice silk clothes!
  • After reflecting on his life and accidentally rubbing against the ring his 'uncle' gave him, an ifrit appeared, who helped Ala al-Din escape. Once he had admitted his spoiled actions and previous mistakes, Ala went to town and spotted Princess Badr al Budur and fell instantly in love with her. They were soon married.
  • The black dwarf returns and retrieves the lamp by tricking the princess into selling her the magic lamp. Once he has it, he tells the magic ifrit to take the palace and princess to Africa so that the two can get married.
  • After the kings threat to kill Ala, Ala al-Din goes on a mission to find both the palace and the princess with the help of the Ring ifrit. Once he found Badr, the black dwarf, and the palace, he saved the princess by giving the dwarf a sleeping potion, and they all head back to the kingdom and bring the palace, as well.
  • After returning safely, Ala al-Din, Badr al Budur, and the king all vanish the Black dwarf and free the poor Ifrit. Ala and Budur live happily ever after and continued to love each other very much.
