Storyboard Text

  • As the king of Narnia it is my job to defend the lives of my people by not only ensuring their protection, but also giving them a life to live once they have it.
  • In order to ensure that our people are safe, we need to have a positive relationship with the UN. We only trust one person...
  • I lost my brother when he crossed to the other side. I don't go a day without thinking about him or his wife and child.
  • My family depends on the trade between Narnia and the UN. We need to have a stronger connection and bond.
  • We only trust one person...
  • I have lost so many of my brethren in this violence and destructive fighting between worlds.
  • To help us, we only trust one person...
  • We can't afford to wait. We have to find a solution that will last, like our lives depend on it.
  • I chose an ad that takes a look at many different personal stories in order to prove that the relationship between the UN and Narnia needs improvement, but I don't reveal how I do that until the end. The goal is to intensify the problem while downplaying the specifics. We talked about intensifying certain things and downplaying others in our class discussions. The lighting is bright and the music is calm, despite the topic.
  • Without the natural resources from Narnia, my husband wouldn't be able to help his patients.
  • *woof*
  • My daddy says he only trusts one person...
  • The backdrop in the first three scenes is in Narnia, in various places, with the intent of showing citizens of the UN many different places in Narnia where people and animals are together. The content of the ad concerns the problems that are seen currently, while the form indicates the belief that one day in the future people and animals of both worlds could get along.
  • We can't afford to let another election go by without taking action, for citizens of both the UN and Narnia. Ann Pitner has a plan to rebuild the bridge between worlds, a to work towards a better tomorrow. Vote for Ann.
  • The intensification works through identification by association. At this point, most people in both worlds have lost someone due to the violence, and so this is supposed to remind people of that in order to establish that a solution is needed. There is a repetitive patter among all of these scenes where someone says they only trust one person to do this job, and in the end it will be revealed that that person is myself.
  • My name is Ann Pitner and I approve this message.
  • The downplay is only when citizens are speaking of direct ways the broken connection is affecting them, for the purpose of shortening the ad. There are two specific points in this scene, the first is that the child says he trusts me, and the second is the dog. This is integral to remind citizens of the UN that we have pets also, and that animals should not scare us. This is a cultural myth in our world now. This also helps to downplay differences
  • in cultures and create social proof on both sides. The scene above has voiceover to enhance the visual metaphor of creating a bridge between worlds that will last. The bridge is a metaphor for the relationship, and reframes the problems into a positive solution where there is a healthy relationship between worlds. The consistency of "I only trust one person" now comes into play here, as the audience understands the purpose of the ad.
  • I am only in the last scene to both answer the consistent question and for scarcity, which both create liking and an image of me as a strong candidate. I say the phrase that most candidates say in their campaign ads, in order to also associate myself with professional politicians in the sense of organization, seriousness, and stamina. In this scene, the music will be an orchestral arrangement of victory over a difficult battle.
