Week 3A: Machiavelli
Machiavelli, a famous writer from the Renaissance period, is well known for his piece "The Prince". In his book, he teaches his audience that to be feared is more important than to be loved, and in order to create this fear, one must use tricks and other unethical actions to gain and maintain their power.
Now that I've tripped him, I'll definitely win! It's better to be feared than loved!
I know I was speaking competitively with her, but I had no idea what a Machiavellian she was!
When the girl runner tripped the guy she was running with, she chose to use unethical tactics to gain an advantage. She decided to have people fear her instead of love her. This is exactly what Machiavelli told is audience to follow.
