Storyboard Text

  • It represents or shows how much the boys lost their identity. Jack wouldn't have done those things without the mask on, and many times he is blushing under the mask when he says things. The only reason he says them is because no one will be able to see him react. "He looked in astonishment, no longer at himself but an awesome stranger." -63
  • "For hunting. Like in a war. You know-dazzle point. Like things trying to look like something else." - 63
  • This is a representation of deindividuation because Jack's group has complete gone into savagery and now damaging the other camp. They took piggy's specs, broke them, then destroyed their fire. This shows that Jack and his group no longer have morals and don't care about anything unless it benefits them.
  • " I know. They didn't come for the conch. They came for something else. Ralph what am I going to do." - 163
  • "They didn't take the conch." - 163
  • When the officer arrived he inspected the little scarecrow in front of him. "The kids needed a bath, a haircut, a nose-wipe, and a good deal of ointment." This shows how they never took care of themselves and now look like wild animals. Untreated hair, they smell, and have sunburn all over their bodies. This is social influence, since Jack never took care of himself and now was the new chief / leader everyone followed him and his sloppiness.
  • "only two and they've gone." - 201
  • "Nobody killed, I hope? Any dead bodies?" - 201
  • KILL THE BEAST! CUT HIS THROAT! SPILL HIS BLOOD!" - 186
  • Jack and his group of hunters have lost all civilization structure. They don't care about the rules Piggy and Ralph set up, so they destroyed the only thing they had left, the conch. All the boys in the group have blood lust and only want to kill not even take care of themselves or how they appear.
  • KILL THE BEAST! CUT HIS THROAT! SPILL HIS BLOOD!" - 186
  • "See? See? That's what you'll get! I meant that! There isn't a tribe for you anymore! The conch is gone." - 186
  • The kids blood lust to kill was a result of Piggy's death from falling off the cliff smashing his head on a rock and splitting it open. The conch also shattered into thousands of pieces.
