"And yet you've not confessed till now. That speak goodness in you."
Act 4, Part 2
You will be hanged!
I choose to die. (John crumples up the confession document)
"Which way do you go, Mister"?
John Proctor (on the left) says that his soul is not blackened by this little lie that will save his life. He is annoyed because he doesn't want to blacken his name around town. Elizabeth says that he is doing good because John hasn't confessed that he is a witch (when he actually isn't one).
Danforth (on the far right) is wondering if John will confess to being a witch or if John will not. John (the middle) doesn't confess to witchery and chooses to die instead. Hale (on the far left) is upset. Parris is upset as well. John will be admired for his bravery.
