Storyboard Text

  • What happened?!
  • King Street
  • A group of boys and men was gathered here where British soldiers were protecting the customs house. The mob was throwing snowballs at the soldiers and the soldiers began firing into the crowd. This boy was killed along with four others.
  • I thought things might change when the Stamp Act was repealed thanks to the Sons of Liberty, but it's worse. We need to take a greater stand against England. Contrary to what the Declaratory Act says, England can't make changes here and take control without representation from us.
  • King Street
  • You're right... but what can we do?
  • 1774
  • I have great news! The Continental Congress, consisting of delegates from the colonies, met today and they decided to form a militia and start boycotting trade with Great Britain. Change is happening.
  • Yes! I'm sick of this taxation without representation. The Sons of Liberty have been protesting for a year against the Tea Act and it still exists.
  • 1774
  • This will show England they can't control us anymore!
  • It's time to defend our rights. Dump all the tea!!!
  • 1775
  • I can't believe it! After Parliament tried to change our government following the Boston Tea Party I thought it was all over, but news just broke that the militia formed by the Massachusetts Provincial Congress drove the British back to Boston. We are overcoming England. It's time to declare ourselves our own nation.
  • 1776
  • We've been at war with England for a year. It's time to officially declare ourselves independent from her. Who wants to sign first? John?
