Storyboard Text

  • As an elementary school and middle school student I often struggled to comprehend what I was reading. Everything went in one ear and out the other. 
  • After a year of not asking for help, I fell behind other students in my class on many of my reading exams because I couldn't give anyone a detailed description of what I'd read.
  • Things had gotten to the point where my mom was contacted to see why I was falling so far behind. After this she sat me down to see what was going on. 
  • She decided to start reading with me each night in the hopes that'd improve my scores and help me overall as a reader.
  • We worked together each night, usually with my mom reading to me. I began to remember things from the text that my mother had been reading to me.
  • After lots of work with my mom, I began to feel confident reading on my own and became able to remember information I read. After bettering my comprehensive reading skills, I was finally able to bring up my scores and better myself for future English classes.
