  • When the people of France overthrew the Monarchy and took control of the government. It occurred from the years of 1789 - 1799.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • We pledge to stay in here!
  • Factors that led to the French Revolution: 1. Growing resentment among lower classes. 2. New ideas about government. 3. Serious economic problems . 4. Weak / indecisive leadership. 5. Food shortage.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • The Clergy and Nobles planned to dominate and outvote the Third Estate, but the Third Estate wanted to make some changes.
  • The Great Fear
  • So scared!
  • The National Assembly were locked out of their meeting room, so they broke down a door, and pledged to stay until they had drawn up a new constitution. 
  • On July 14th, 1789, a mob searching for gunpowder and arms stormed the Bastille.
  • A wave of panic overfilled France, where peasants became outlaws.
