  • Reynaldo- sent by Polonius to spy on his son Laertes
  • Polonius-Father of Ophelia and Laertes, keeps control of his children
  • Scene 2 Act 1
  • Hamlet- Prince of Denmark, pretending to go mad, Ophelia's love interest
  • Ophelia- Daughter of Polonius, Hamlet's love interest
  • P- Give him my money and these notes R- I will, my lord. P- you shall do marvelous wisely, good Reynaldo, Before you visit him to make inquire Of his behavior
  • Reynaldo agrees to go France to watch Laertes for Polonius and also to use his plan of going around and talking about Laertes to get information on him.
  • Well, my lord.
  • Farewell!
  • Hamlet was all crazy, he had his shirt untucked, socks to his ankles, and he was just staring at Ophelia, not saying a word.
  • Ophelia goes on to tell her father what had happened between her and Hamlet and how bad he had scared her.
  • My lord, as I was sewing in my closet, Lord Hamlet, with a look so piteous in purport as if he had been loosed out of hell, To speak of horrors
  • Polonius believes it is because of Ophelia's rejection toward him and he decides that this is getting too serious and violent and that he must go and tell the king immediately!
  • My lord, I do not know, But truly I do fear it.
  • Come, go with me. I will go seek the King. This is the very ecstasy of love, Whose violent property fords itself and leads the will to desperate undertakings
