Storyboard Text

  • Favorite Sons
  • Massachusetts is the only votes I need!
  • Kentucky will always support me!
  • I know Tennessee will have my back!
  • Mudslinging
  • You dont deserve to be President, you would be horrible!
  • Ive never met someone so terrible for the job!
  • Corrupt Bargain
  • If I can help you become president, do you promise me a spot as Secretary of State?
  • Sure thing, Secretary of State.
  • The favorite sons were the candidates running for president in the election of 1824, who relied on their home states for votes.
  • Shadow Over Adams
  • I believe you all will consider my proposals
  • I dont think so, and dont expect many of your proposals to be accepted from now on, your only president on paper.
  • Mudslinging was the new way to campaign by insulting the other candidates and ruining their reputation.
  • Democrats vs Republicans
  • The corrupt bargain was a deal made between Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams, that if Clay used his speaking influence to get Adams the spot as president, Adams would make Clay his Secretary of State
  • The Landslide
  • Thank you Calhoun, because of you, I won by a huge landslide!
  • When everyone found out about the corrupt bargain, Congress would turn down all of Adams´ proposals. So he would only be a president by title.
  • By the election of 1828, there were two political parties, the Democrats and the Republicans. The Democrats believed in individual states rights, and the Republicans believed in a strong central government.
  • We believe in states' rights!
  • As Republicans, we believe in a strong central government
  • America changed in result of the Election of 1824 and 1828, because Jackson became president and political divisions returned, bringing an end to the Era of Good Feelings.
  • No problem, thank the Northerners for lending their support
