In the mid-1800, kerosene was developed by scientists. kerosene was the new form of fuel . it affect Texas by Lyne T. Barret drilled for oil outside Nacogdoches in 1866 he could not raise money to continue drilling. Then Texas accidentally discovered oil.
The significance of the strike at Spindletop was that it led to many jobs. By 1902 500 oil company were there. The population swelled because hundreds of oil companies formed to drilled new wells.
The Spindletop oil boom affect the local economy and national oil prices by of the three cents a barrel. These changes in prices were part of a boom and bust cycle.
