The ESL pullout traditional method is a form of ELL support where students are pulled out of regular content classes for language support.
In their ESL classes students receive instruction on basic vocabulary and grammar structure. This instruction is not related to the material that students are learning in their content courses.
When students return to their regular classes the missed the material and experiences that were presented while they were pulled out. Apart from being behind in instruction, valuable learning time is used up for transitioning between their ESL support class and regular class.
