  • Be business like, even though I like feeling like a worker
  • "Oh- er- have you come- is it about the marquee?"
  • "Look here, miss, that's the place. Against those trees. over there. That'll do fine."
  • "Mother, a man's been killed."
  • No, no!
  • Not in the garden?
  • Oh, what a fright you gave me.
  • Mrs. Sheridan got up and came over to her, carrying the hat.
  • but we cant possibly have a garden-party with a man dead just outside the front gate (page9)
  • but I do want to show off my hat...
  • its much too young for me. I have never seen you look such a picture. look at yourself!
  • and the perfect afternoon slowly ripened, slowly faded, slowly its petals closed. (page12)
