  • King Philip organised musical competitions to run alongside the wedding ceremonies of Alexander (of Eripus) and Cleopatra (daughter). - held @ the Theatre of Aegae
  • Philip entered "wearing a white cloak" (Diodorus) and ordered his body guards to follow him "at some distance from him, as an indication to everyone that he needed no protection of guards" (Diodorus)
  • amid the applause Philip was recieving from the many greeks he invited to the ceremony, he was approached by Pausanias, leader of the bodyguards....
  • Pausanias ran up to Philip, hugged him, then stabbed him "right through the ribs" (Diodorus) with a celtic dagger. Plutarch and Justin also say Pausanias was the killer
  • Philip died right on the spot - Pausanias tried to escape, he had stationed horses at nearby gates to station him to safety. Philip's other body guards including Leonnatus and Perdiccas followed him...
  • Pausanias tripped on a vine and was over run by the other men, who speared him to death R.I.P Philip and Pausanias
