  • A swamp nearby Boston resides to the Devil, with the gifts of cursed wealth.
  • This was the "Salem Trials" era, and Tom Walker lived unhappily with his wife due to poverty. Sometimes, "his face showed signs that their conflicts were not confined to words."
  • I CAN'T STAND HER!!!
  • "One day Tom Walker took what he considered a shortcut homeward, through the swamp."
  • Agh, something doesn't feel right here... Eh, it's probably nothing. Onward!
  • Tom meets a stranger, that claimed to be the black woodsman. The woodsman offered Tom great sums of money buried by Kidd the Pirate in return for his soul.
  • "What proof have I that all you have been telling me is true?"
  • Suspicious, Tom goes back home and informs his wife. Powered by greed, "she was determined to drive the bargain on her own account, to keep all the gain to herself."
  • I'm not quite sure whether to take the deal or not, most likely not.
  • WELL? WHY DIDN'T YOU AGREE TO THE DEAL? YOU MUST, AND IF YOU DON'T I WILL!
