Once upon a time, King Arthur and his court gathered at Camelot among the knights of the Round Table for a glorious feast on new year’s Day. The Castle’s great hall had never been more merry, With plentiful food, Flowing wine, And the exchanging of holidays gifts.
It was Arthur’s custom not to eat until the rest of the hall had been served, And he would not take a single bite of the feast until he was told a splendid tale of adventure - or until something marvelous happened.
Just then, a horseman burst into the hall, with shoulders so broad and limbs so long he must have been half glant, and he was green- Unearthly green from head to toe, both the man and the horse he rode.
His hair was long, his beard neatly braided. His horse’s bridle was stunned with emeralds. But he wore no armor, and carried neither sword nor spear, In one hand he grasped green reins- And in the other, a huge, dreadful axe.
There is where the story of the two brave man started The Green Knight decided to test the Sir Gawain bravery, so they made two deals. The first deal was If Sir Gawain could cut the Green Knight head off. And he did, but The Green Knight put it back as if nothing happened.
So in a year The Green Knight had to cut Sir Gawain head off in a year. The second deal was for Sir Gawain to stay in Arthur’s castle and whatever Sir Gawain did or catch in the day, he had to give it back to the King. All Gawain got was 3 kisses from the King’s wife.
