  • Henry Clay: I will lead this country, like I lead the War Hawks
  • Election of 1824-1828
  • John Quincy Adams: Massachusetts has my back!
  • Andrew Jackson: I will win this election for sure
  • Adams and Clay's Secret Deal
  • I will use my powers as the Speaker of the House to defeat Jackson
  • If you make me president, I will give you the spot in my cabinet as secretary of state
  • Adams becomes President
  • Proposal DENIED
  • All my proposals were turned down, I can not do anything during my office
  • In the election of 1824 there were several candidates competing but, three of them were favorite sons. They had the support of their home states instead of national party
  • Rise of Two Parties
  • Republicans wants a stronger federal government and more economic measures.
  • Democrats favors states' rights and mistrusted the central government.
  • Adams and Clay makes the "corrupt bargain" which was not illegal but stealing the election. Jackson's followers were furious and accused the two men.
  • Mudslinging Opponents
  • Because of the unpopular policies and the corrupt bargain, there was a cast of shadow over Adam's presidency. Congress turned down many of Adam's proposal.
  • Jackson becomes President
  • John Calhoun: I switched parties to run with Jackson, I do not think I will regret this.
  • By the 1828 election there was two political parties. The Democratic-Republicans and the National Republicans. The Democrats supported Jackson and the Republicans supported Adams.
  • Reupblicans vs. Democrats
  • This was the first election where the candidates actually questioned each other's personality and morals. Insulting one another in public, trying to ruin each others reputation.
  • Jackson, you are accusing the wrong person, what a great story you made up. Might as well be a writer!

  • During the elections of 1824 and 1828, Jackson ran to become president. However, the first election, because of Clay and Adam's corrupted bargain, Adams became president. That did not work out well on Adams part, because it casts a shadow over his presidency. During the election of 1828 both of the opponent mudslings each other. But, in the end Jackson becomes President by overwhemling victory.
  • I won in a landside, 56% of the popular vote and 178 electoral votes. Finally, became president of United States.
