Storyboard Description

Grounded

Storyboard Text

  • Before reading the poem, I thought it was about a girl who realizes her father is getting old and can't do much.
  • Poem: Grounded By, Joyce Sutphen
  • Shift
  • Title
  • Title (Again)
  • Why are you acting so old?
  • Paraphrasing
  • I don't know, honey.
  • I thought the poem was basically about the Dad not being able to do yardwork or get on the roof. So he was not able to be in the air, therefore, grounded.
  • Connotation and Attitude
  • Not now sweetie.
  • Aren't you going to rake the leaves, Dad?
  • Theme
  • There was only hyperboles that I could see, but the attitude they gave was similar to the one of the poem. The poem's attitude was knowing, Nostalgic and Melancholy.
  • Before
  • After
  • The shift is the girl talking about what her dad does now to what he used to do.
  • I thought the title was the same as I thought before.
  • I thought the theme was with age comes weakness and lack of action. I thought this because of the whole time the father was being forced not to do things because of his old age.
