Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and helped other slaves escape.
This took place in Eastern shore Maryland, sometime in 1820-1821 in the 1850's.
We need to know this because it is important to know what was going on during that time period and who was a big part of slavery. Harriet Tubman impacted our nations history by rescuing 300 slaves during a ten year span she made 19 trips into the south.
Something that surprised me was that Harriet Tubman got a head injury from one of her masters and it caused her to have seizures for the rest of her life .
This helps us understand the time period of slavery by letting us know that Frederick Douglass and john Brown didn't like slavery and were willing to get together and help slaves escape and be free.
Harriet Tubman was doing a good ob of getting slaves free that Frederick Douglass and John Brown helped Harriet move closer to Auburn NY,closer to the Canadian border
