Storyboard Text

  • Here we explain about the Indus River, and other things we don't need to ramble on about in other boxes.
  • Hi! Welcome to the Indus Valley Civilization! We're home to the Indus River, and much more!
  • We started out civilization in 1700 B.C.E, and we plan to last for much longer.
  • It is kind of cold in the rain, so let's explore the houses!
  • We live in modern-day countries India and Pakistan, and there's so much more you can learn about us.
  • Here, we have someone sleeping. This is usually what a house looks like.
  • We don't have a lot of space in our houses, so we spend most of our times on the roof.
  • Here we realize that maybe people like being alone during naptime.
  • Go back outside!
  • Well, let's go outside to talk about hygiene!
  • This is where we learn that maybe we should pay attention to what we are talking about
  • These shower stones are circular stone slabs, where we stand and pour water on ourselves.
  • Now, we are on the lawn where it has stopped raining.
  • Here in the Indus Valley, we clean ourselves on top of shower stones.
  • What were we talking about again?
  • Here, Fred and Frank realize that maybe they shouldn't fight on national TV.
  • Everyone can come, but it is mandatory to come on one specific date, the celebration of the Great Bath.
  • Now, we'll talk about the Great Bath, and our religious rituals.
  • Yes Fred, I am.
  • Now, we'll talk about seals!
  • The Great Bath is a sacred pool in the middle of the village.
  • Are you sure that's what it's called, Frank?
  • Here, we tell our twins Frank and Fred, at the top, to stop arguing. And we talk about seals. And how rain is a good thing'.
  • Quit fighting, you two! Well, for example, if a trader owned a pack of grain, then they could label that grain with a seal.
  • Now we are in front of a few houses, where it is getting a little late.
  • That's kind of helpful. Well, let's talk about our last topi- Now it's raining?
  • Thanks a lot, captain obvious. Anyway, seal is like a label.
  • Well, that's our show! Stay tuned for Ancient Egypt, next week on Civilize These Civilizations!
  • Hey! I was supposed to say that!!!!
  • Two sacks of wheat for 1 bag of minerals.
  • So, now that it's dark AND raining, we'll go over our last topic- trade.
  • Well, you snooze, you lose.
  • Hey! I was supposed to say that!!!!
  • So, when we do trade with other civilizations, it goes like this example -
