John Proctor and his wife, Elizabeth are sitting down talking about the farm and crops. Elizabeth thinks that John went to Salem however he did not. They also talk about Mary Warren being an official in court.
Mary Warren came in and gave Elizabeth a doll. She also talks about the thirty nine people arrested, Goody Osburn going to be hanged, and Sarah Good confessing so she wouldn't be hanged.
Mary Warren tells Elizabeth that she was accused in court. Elizabeth finds out that Abigail wants her dead. John Proctor then tries to find Ezekiel Cheever to solve the issue with Abigail. Mary Warren then goes to bed.
Reverend Hale arrives to the house and talks to John Proctor about the problem with Abigail. He tells him that Elizabeth's name was mentioned in the court and that Rebecca Nurse was charged. It was hard to believe.
Reverend Hale then questions John Proctor about his church routines. John claims that he prays at home. Hale doubts John Proctor and asks him to state the ten commandments. John struggles naming one more and gets into deeper trouble.
John Proctor denies witchcraft and starts accusing others by saying Abigail said Parris discovered the girls in the woods. Hale then asks John if he will testify in court and then questions him and elizabeth on believing witches. They say no.
