  • Exposition
  • Tis just someone entreating entrance at my chamber door
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Nevermore
  • Prophet! Thing of evil-prophet still, if bird or devil! Tell me if I shall ever see my beloved Lenore, a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore again!
  • Nevermore
  • We open to a fire lit chamber on a late, bleak, rainy December night. The narrator is grieving over the loss of Lenore, his loved one. Then there is a rapping at his chamber door.
  • Falling Action
  • Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend! Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Plutonian shore! Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken! Leave my loneliness unbroken! quit the bust above my door!
  • Waving off this rapping noise as a late night visitor entreating entrance, but it persists so he politely asks them to leave. But it still persists, so he decides to go and check what this visitor wants, but when he opens the chamber door to the hallways there is nothing but darkness and foreboding. Then he hears a tapping at the window so he goes to open it and a Raven flys in and lands on a bust of Pallas.
  • Resolution
  • Taken aback by this saintly, dark visitor he decides to ask what its name is and it replies "Nevermore".  The narrator comes to a reasonable conclusion for this reply. So he asks some more question eventually to the topic of Lenore, but the only answer the Raven gives is "Nevermore".
  • The narrator asks if he will ever see Lenore another time but gets the same answer as the last "Nevermore".  The narrator mad with the Raven reply stars shouting for him to leave but the Raven does not.
  • Realizing that the Raven will be perched upon the bust of Pallas for the rest of time the narrator collapses to his knees knowing that his soul will never be whole again.
