  • Inauguration Day For Madison 1808.
  • James Madison took over as the 4th President of the United States in 1808.
  • I James Madison Will be the president of the United States.
  • In 1812 James Madison really wanted to go to war with Great Britain because of their constant impressment of american sailors and their influence of Native American attacks on American towns.
  • Impressment is starting to become more of a problem.
  • What they are doing is an act of war!
  • During phase one of the war of 1812 Oliver Hazard Perry was the leader of the navy. During the first few hours of the battle his ship was sunk and he had fight the rest of the battle from a row boat. Commodore Perry defeated the British fleet and the British retreated to Canada where General William Harry defeated the British ground troops in the battle of Thames.
  • Lets go and win this battle.

  • During the second phase of the war of 1812 the British naval fleet set up a blockade around the New England trading ports. Also during this time is when Francis Scott Key wrote the "Star Spangled Banner" while being held prisoner during the British bombardment of Fort McHenery in Baltimore, Maryland.

  • When president James Madison got news of the British troops in New Orleans he sent General Andrew Jackson to take back the very crucial port city. When battle broke out in New Orleans The Americans Obliterated The enemy forces with a total count of 2,000 dead British troops and a total of 71 American casualties. This win for the United States brought an end to the war after the signing of the treaty of ghent.

  • Because almost all of foreign trade had stopped during the war Americans had to make their own supplies which led to an industrial revolution. Also because of the removal of the British, Native American attacks in the west had almost completely stopped. Making westward expansion a much greater possibility.
