  • The Mexicans welcomed the Americans because they hoped they would be loyal Mexican citizens and keep the territory from falling into the hands of the United States.While these emigrets legally became Mexican citizens they continued to speak English , formed there own schools, and had a closer trading ties to the United States than mexico.

  • The president of mexico overthrew the constitution and appointed himself as dictator.  The new dictator is Antonio Lopez Santa Anna.  He was afraid the Americans would use his power to secede so he wanted the Mexican military to be disarmed as soon as posible

  • In 1831 Gonzalas resived a cannon from the Mexican government.It was relatively useless, having been spiked, but it was loud enough to scare the Indians. It was significance because the 18 men where in that town and they had such passion about it they stood and guarded it.
  • Texas Statehood
  • The Alamo took place in December 1835, a group of Texan volunteer soldiers  occupied the alamo. The same day they captured the fort seizing control of San Antonio.  The significance of the battle of the Alamo is the battle became an enduring symbol of there heroic resistance to oppression and their struggle for independence, which they won later that year.
  • The battle of San Jacinto was fought on April 21, 1836 . The Mexicans lost there territory and would never regain it. The significance of this battle was This battle was a very decisive about the Texas Revolution, and the war only lasted 20 minutes till everything ended.

  • The statehood Is were they elected Sam Houston as president endorsed the entrance of Texas into the United States and he compromised Texas to join a slave state . The significance of statehood is the union delayed any action by the U.S congress for a decade.
