The Election Of 1860
In 1860 Abraham Lincoln , John Breckinridge , John Bell , and Stephen douglas ran in the election and Abraham Lincoln was now the president .
It's important because the election of 1860 accelerated to the war and most of the southerners did not like the fact that he was banning slavery .
A lot of people disagreed about Abraham Lincoln being president , especially the southerners because be lincoln was against slavery and was a abolitionist .
States were threatening to leave the union . The south states were not happy that Abe Lincoln was the president so they were threatening to leave the union
This also accelerated the cause of the war because the southerners wanted to leave because they didn't want abe to ban slavery .
The people in the south thou that it was unfair that the south had more good farming land The south wanted slavery and the people in the north wanted there to be no slavery, even tho the territories were above the 30, 36, line that slavery was not to cross.Farming land that had no slaves than the south.
Many people disagreed on pro and anti slavery in the territories that not yet become states yet.
He believed that blacks should have the same rights as white people. He signed the Emancipation proclamation to free the enslaved black men and woman.
Abraham Lincoln wanted to stop slavery.
