After Della got her hair cutting the lady gave her the money proclaiming its value by substance alone not by meretricious ornamentation as all good things should do.
Della waited for Jim to come home . Finally Jim got home and he was shocked about Della's hair he didn't know what to do. Della yelled at him prudencely because she sold her hair to buy him the chain for his watch. He told her that it wasn't about her hair that it was because he sold his watch to buy her combs for her hair he said drinking a bottle of cascade with silence of parsimony.
