The Character is going into the old mans room at night to examine his "Evil Eye".
The Character killed the old man, which in turn brought a dark tone, but also a mysterious one due to the circumstances leading to the murder.
The Character is flustered and seems to hear the old man's heart beating in the floor, which drove him mad.
