  • Russia in WWI
  • We were not prepared for this war!
  • The February Revolution, 1917
  • I'm giving up my throne.
  • Bolshevik/October Revolution, 1917
  • Now that the Bolsheviks and I are in control, there will no longer be private property.
  • During WWI, Russia had very many casualties. They were the most ill prepared because they were focusing on industrializing rather than militarizing.
  • Russian Civil War 1918-1919
  • We are going to kill the Czar!
  • Workers started rioting. They were successful in making reforms: Czar Nicholas abdicated his throne and the Duma ruled Russia instead.
  • Industrial and Agricultural Reforms of Stalin, 1928
  • You all must meet your quota in the next week!
  • Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks took control of Russia. They eliminated private property and made peace with Germany.
  • Stalin's Purges, 1934
  • You are a threat to my power! You must die!
  • A Civl War broke out in Russia. Those loyal to the Czar were called Whites and Bolshevik followers were called Reds. The Reds killed Czar Nicholas II and took control.
  • Joseph Stalin took control after Lenin died. He wanted to industrialize and agriculturally reform Russia, but his demands were unrealistically high.
  • Stalin had a terror-filled reign where he killed all who opposed him or was a threat to his power. This was called the Great Purge.
