  • "i knew some towering brute would be upon us soon-all outward power, a wild man, ignorant of civility." (Homer 957)
  • welcome
  • The men met the Cyclops as they arrived at the cave.
  • "He clutched at my companions and caught two in his hands like squirming puppies to beat their brains out, spattering the floor." (Homer 959)
  • The Cyclops began devouring odysseus' men one by one.
  • "My name is Nohbdy: mother, father, and friends, everyone calls me Nohbdy" (Homer 961)
  • I am Nohbdy!
  • Odysseus tricked the Cyclops by giving him the wrong name so he wouldn't find him to come back for revenge.

  • The plan was to throw a wooden steak in the Cyclops eye so that odysseus could escape along with his men.
  • "They all pitched in at loading, then embarked and struck their oars into the sea." (Homer 964)
  • They all finally escaped, and their plan worked after all.
