This chapter explains the Johnston Atoll Field Trials, the United States' largest scale testing of biological weapons. The biological agent, called "Utah" was put in the air on the coast of California above the Pacific Ocean. It was tested on monkeys and every monkey who inhaled it died.
Chapter 3: Diagnosis
Alice Austen M.D. is an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer who works for the Centers for Disease Control in Georgia. She takes on a case in New York City to observe two autopsies and try to figure out the link between the deaths of four people, one of these people being Kate Moran. She goes around New York City in search of any clues to the reason behind Kate's death.
