The three witches deliver good news to both Macbeth and Banquo about the future: Macbeth is to be king and thane of Cawdor, and Banquo's children will become kings.
Macbeth later finds out that he is now indeed the thane of Cawdor. If what the witches said is true, the only thing standing between Macbeth and his kingship is the king himself
At the castle, King Duncan expresses his gratitude to Macbeth and Banquo for their loyal service. He then announces that he will be at Macbeth's house for dinner; this is the perfect time for Macbeth to get rid of King Duncan
Inside Macbeth's house, he and his wife come up with a plan to kill King Duncan The only problem is whether Macbeth will actually go through with it. Until the time comes, they play along like good hosts would.
Macbeth, with much convincing from his wife, killed King Duncan
With the king dead and the sons of the king gone for fear of their own lives, Macbeth is crowned king!
