Storyboard Text

  • Brok wins!
  • I want your head!
  • "I will give you whatever you want in place of my head."
  • All the gods were eager to watch the contest. The judges who were sitting on their golden thrones were Odin, Thor, and Frey. Loke brought out his creations and gave the spear to Odin, and the golden hair to Thor, "... who placed it on Sif's head, and straight away it began to grow like any other hair..." (Mabie pg.29).  Lastly he gave the ship to Frey.
  • Brok stepped before the gods and presented his creations. He gave the ring to Odin, the boar to Frey, and the hammer to Thor. The hammer was so great that "The gods gathered around, and passed the  hammer from one to the other saying that it would be their greatest protection against their enemies..." (Mabie pg.30). The gods were so impressed that they declared Brok the winner.
  • Brok won the wager and wanted Loke's head. However, Loke did not want to give his head away but, Brok stated that "I will have your head or I will have nothing," (Mabie pg.30). Even though Loke told him he could have it, he quickly flew away with his magic shoes.
  • Brok asked Thor if he could find Loke and bring him back. Upon his return, Brok still wanted to cut off Loke's head.  However, Loke told Brok "You may cut off my head, but you have no right to touch my neck," (Mabie pg.30). Brok gave up because he could not cut off Loke's head without touching his neck. Instead, Brok decided to sew Loke's lips together so that he could never boast again.
