Storyboard Text

  • The King of England spent all the money on the 7 Years War and has now decided to tax the British Colonies on tea, stamps, and sugar.
  • Hmmm, maybe I should start taxing the British Colonies.
  • The Loyalists were willing to pay the taxes and thought it was good they were repaying the king, but the Patriots refused to pay any tax and thought it was ridiculous.
  • We hate tax!
  • We should repay the king!
  • While the Patriots were protesting they started throwing things at the British Soldiers and the tension grew so high that the British Soldiers shot at them, killing 5 Bostonians. This is known as the Boston Massacre.
  • Fire!
  • The Patriots were angry, so they decided to take action. On December 16, 1773, the Patriots disguised themselves as First Nations and snuck aboard the ships carrying the tea. They dumped 342 crates, holding 90000 pounds of tea into the water.
  • You can join us or leave!
  • The Patriots took control but gave the Loyalists the option to join them, leave, or go to jail.
  • Hooray! We made our own country!
  • The Patriots then formed their own country, the USA!
