Narcissus was a Greek goddess. He is known for falling in love with his own reflection. He was considered as one of the most handsom of young men. Despite all the love everyone felt for him includng himself, he commited suicide.
Narcissus was the son of the river god, Cephissus and Liriope who is a Nymph, beautiful maiden. Endymion is the man that choose to sleep for eternity. Selene is the moon.
Cephissus and Liriope had their baby boy Narcissus becasue Cephissus invited her into his waters. He was born at Latmos, the mountain in Asia Minor, near Miletus.
A symbol used to describe Narcissus is a flower because he fell in love with his twin sister. When she died Hades was attracted to the meadows because of Narcissus not the flowers.
"Echo often waited in the woods to see Narcissus hoping for a chance to be noticed. One day as she lingered in the bushes he heard her footsteps and called out “Who's here?” Echo replied “Here!” Narcissus called again "Come", Echo replied "Come!". Narcissus called once more “Why do you shun me?... Let us join one another.”"
