“Are we there yet,” John said. John was 12 with blue eyes and brown hair. He was also tall at 5’10”. He also has freckles. This was his last tournament of the year and they were in the finals. He was hoping not to get hurt. But he knew the pitcher didn’t like him. When he got there he saw the pitcher and the pitcher glared at him. John went by his team and started warming up with his team. When the team was coming back to the dugout he looked over at the small river raging fast like a giant punched it. Every so often the pitcher would look at his coach then look at John. After the third inning they were up 4-3.
The fans were cheering and kids were playing on the playground and the smell of cotton candy and hot dogs were in the air as John stepped up to the plate. He looked the pitcher in the eyes. He wound up and threw. “BALL,” the umpire shouted. The catcher threw the ball back to the pitcher. The pitcher threw. It looked inside but hittable. He swung. The ball went right down the first base line but just foul. The pitcher got the ball back and he looked at John. He wound up and threw. It was far inside. He spun around and closed his eyes. Then he felt the ball hit his back like a rock.
The crowd went “Oooooooo,” John fell and hit the ground yelling in pain. His coach ran out to help him up. “Do you think you can make it through the rest of the game?” The coach said. “Yes I can,” said John. The crowd clapped as he made his way down to first base.
